As we set to turn the clock on another year, MTR contributing writer Wendy Laursen takes a deep dive into subsea vehicle technology, exploring how advances in robotics are enabling subsea missions to be more common-place, more ambitious and less dependent on specialist … or support vessels. Vehicles technology continues to advance at speed, with an emphasis on increasing levels of autonomy, reliability and flexibility to help operators – from military to industry to science – achieve their missions more efficiently and effectively.

Speaking of DEEP DIVE, if you’ve not caught the new podcast series with host Rhonda Moniz, your missing a gem. Throughout 2024, Rhonda has amassed an impressive list of DEEP DIVE guests, including recent episodes with Dr. Dawn Wright to discuss all things Ocean Mapping; a conversation with Dr. David Murrin, Director General of NRC’s Research Center to support our Newfoundland & Labrador feature focus supplement earlier this year; and most recently a visit with Vincent Capone to discuss a broad spectrum, from the Apollo 11 recovery to shipwrecks. If you have a person, a tech or a topic you feel worthy of the MTR DEEP DIVE podcast in 2025, drop me a line on trauthwein@marinelink.com.
